We are TONIC
Each edition has a refreshing theme and aims to be short, concise, and easily readable by anyone who is interested in art, architecture and design.
The project developed in order to provide a theoretical and conversational stimulus, systematically placed alongside architectural studio enquiry. Such formats afford space for short essays that are linked by a theme, photography, and quotation.
Our process begins by offering contributors something to respond to. Tonic sets a challenge, offering a base to stimulate collaborators’ thoughts and start a discussion on a particular topic. For each issue, a letter, an image, a quote or a box is delivered and then the responses are pieced together. The title theme is revealed upon publication.
The first issue of Tonic, titled ‘door handle’, was launched June 2017 at Good Press, Glasgow.
